History and Cultural Context

The Hotel was founded in the late 19th century and was  intended to be a farm for growing vegetables and producing cheeses.

Later it was transformed into an inn for the local Businessmen. It’s located in the archaeological Park of Appia Antica. Nearby there are some other archaeological and cultural sites such as the ancient Via Appia, the Cecilia Metella mausoleum, the San Callisto catacombs and the historical Fosse Ardeatine. There’s also a Museum of Historical Stagecoaches, the stables with beautiful horses and ponies and an Equestrian School.

A few kilometres away there’s the EUR district with its Museums and relevant buildings: the Pigorini Museum, the Astronomical Planetarium of Rome, the beautiful Palazzo of The Italian Civilization well known as The Square Coliseum.

The relax is at hand  thanks to the Park surrounding an artificial lake where you can rent a pedal boat or a boat to get away from the City routine.  In spring the Japanese cherry trees will give you a postcard like view and the handmade ice cream stands will be a pleasant and sweet company for you.

By July 2015 the futuristic Mediterranean Aquarius located underneath the EUR Lake will be opened and by the end of 2015 The Luna Park Ferris wheel will be active again after a long period of restyling.

There are a lot of Typical Restaurants and Trendy Clubs all around. A few minute drive away there are many Night Clubs and Discotheques in the Garbatella and Testaccio districts.
